Replacement water filter: which cartridge fits

Which model do you have? This is where the selection of a replacement water filter starts and, in the Olympus and GIGA series, it continues with the thread color of the cartridge you will be replacing. The mini tap filter, the bathroom filter and the thermos bottle have their own spare parts.
Refer to the order or instructions. If you need to open the device to see the cartridge, follow the procedure for stopping the supply: at the bottom of the counter, turn off the water to the filter and open the tap to relieve the pressure, before unscrewing the chamber.
Order and color determine compatibility
The color indicates the series and use. The basic cartridges of the Olympus series cost €45 and the GIGA series cost €60.
In double and triple, each cartridge has a different function. Take a photo of their colors and positions. The photo helps in ordering the correct part and refitting.
Separate the green from the black thread. Although the two cartridges have the same use, choose the black one only if the device already has a cartridge with a black plastic thread.
The 10 spare parts and their use
Green thread, Olympus series
Η green threaded cartridge combines a ceramic filter and activated carbon for chlorine, pesticides and heavy metals. It costs €45. It is used for up to 12 months or 8,000 liters, whichever comes first, in compatible Olympus single devices and as a basic cartridge in double and triple devices in the series.
Its data includes tests by three recognized European chemical laboratories and a bacterial retention test by the Agricultural University of Athens in 2010.
Black thread, Olympus series
Check the thread before purchasing. The black cartridge only fits the corresponding base, concerns older models and is intended for chlorine, pesticides and heavy metals, with a price of €45 and a limit of 12 months or 8,000 liters.
Blue thread, for salts
Η salt cartridge with blue thread It costs €45 and is added to Olympus double and triple filters. The enhanced version has twice the amount of resin compared to the previous one, according to the product description. It requires regular regeneration.
Red thread, for nitrates
The red cartridge reduces nitrates. It costs €45, has an enhanced amount of resin and is placed in the Olympus double filters selected for this use, as well as in the triple ones. It is regenerated according to its instructions.
Brown thread, GIGA basic cartridge
The GIGA series covers higher consumption. The brown basic cartridge costs €60 and is used for up to 12 months or 14,000 liters for chlorine, pesticides and heavy metals, in households of 6 people and above.
Yellow thread, for salts in GIGA
Yellow reduces salts. It is installed in double and triple GIGAs, costs €60 and lasts 10 to 12 months or 14,000 liters, with regular regeneration of the resin in between.
White thread, for nitrates in GIGA
The white cartridge costs €60. It reduces nitrates to double and triple GIGA and is replaced according to the range limits and resin maintenance instructions.
Spare part for the mini tap filter
The mini has its own cartridge. It costs €17 and is intended for chlorine, pesticides and heavy metals, with a change limit of up to 6 months or 2,000 liters, whichever comes first.
Bathroom filter replacement
The bathroom filter replacement costs €30 and combines activated carbon with antimicrobial copper shavings. It is changed every 12 months or 30,000 liters. Its operation and installation are presented in the article about shower filter.
Spare part for the thermos bottle
The thermos replacement costs €9. It is a PP filter with activated carbon for the corresponding Olympus stainless steel bottle, with a capacity of up to 300 liters, which corresponds to 400 fillings.

| Hot | Thermos bottle | PP filter with activated carbon | Up to 300 liters | 9 € |
Change the cartridge once the first limit is reached. For resin cartridges, the liters in the table refer to total usage, with regular regeneration provided in between.
Which cartridge goes in each position?
In the Olympus series doubles and triples, the green cartridge is placed in position 1. Additional salt or nitrate cartridges are inserted into the remaining bases, in any order, according to the series' instructions.
A double has a green and blue or red cartridge, depending on the initial selection. A triple has all three. You monitor the limits of each separately, so you can change the one that has reached its limit.
In GIGA the colors are brown, yellow and white. Follow the installation order of your model.
What to know about microns and resin
Gradation selection
Center Plus recommends 0.5 micron. Basic cartridges with green, black and brown threads are available from 0.1 to 0.5 micron, with smaller pores reducing water flow.
Regeneration and replacement
The resin is regenerated with salt. This process preserves the salt and nitrate cartridges while you use them, while they are replaced when the time or volumetric limit is reached.
Adapt the frequency to your water. For salt cartridges, the Olympus water filter instructions state regeneration approximately every 350 liters, for hardness up to 20-22 German degrees, while for nitrate cartridges, the nitrate concentration is taken into account, according to the instructions of the replacement part.
The cartridge is left in a solution of coarse table salt, rinsed and reinserted: the instructions describe a 1 to 2 liter container, 3 to 4 tablespoons of salt and a time of 30 to 45 minutes. Then let the water run for one minute. Consult the full instructions of the cartridge.
Resin devices are also used in central water supply. For their different use and maintenance, see the article How does a water softener work?.
Before the next order
Check the model, thread color and rating. Keep the date of the last change and, if you already have a spare available, make sure it matches the cartridge that needs replacing.
For an additional salt or nitrate stage, see your DEYA analyses and check the device compatibility. parametric value for nitrates in drinking water is 50 mg/L. The Ministry of Health publishes the annual reports on the quality of water for human consumption.
For the frequency of replacement and care of the device, consult the articles How often should you change a water filter? and water filter maintenance guide.

Frequently asked questions
Which replacement water filter fits my device?;
Check the model first. For the Olympus and Olympus GIGA series, select the corresponding series and the same thread color as the cartridge you are replacing. The mini, bath filter and thermos bottle have separate replacement parts.
Are the green and black cartridges interchangeable?;
Do not consider them interchangeable. The black cartridge is intended for a device that already has a black plastic thread. Order the color that corresponds to your device, otherwise the replacement will not screw into the base of your device.
How much do Olympus spare parts cost?;
The Olympus series cartridges cost €45 and the Olympus GIGA €60. The Olympus mini refill costs €17, the Olympus bathroom filter €30 and the Olympus thermos bottle €9.
How long does a replacement cartridge last?;
The Olympus basic cartridge is used for up to 12 months or 8,000 liters and the Olympus GIGA basic cartridge for up to 12 months or 14,000 liters. The resin cartridges have a stated life of 10 to 12 months, with limits of 8,000 or 14,000 liters respectively, and require intermediate regeneration. Whichever limit is reached first applies.
Do I need a technician to change the cartridge?;
The change is done by you, without tools or a technician, according to the model's instructions. On the lower counter, first turn off the supply to the filter and open the tap to relieve pressure, before opening the chamber.
