Water filters in Volos Selection based on hardness and use
The hardness in Volos is changing. In the DEYAMB bulletins for 2026, the measurements in April were from 9 to 15 French degrees, while in August they reached from 27 to 41 in most parts of the urban complex. Keep this difference in the filter selection.
In Volos, Olympus filters start at €77. The single one reduces chlorine and improves the taste of the water. For hardness, choose a double system with a salt cartridge, while the triple one has additional stages for salts and nitrates. The appropriate model depends on the characteristics of your water and the use you want to cover.

What was measured in the water of Volos
In the August 2026 bulletin of DEYAMB, 16 of the 17 sampling points in Volos, Nea Ionia and Aisonia had a hardness of 27 to 41 French degrees (°f). In Agios Georgios the value was 11 °f. The April 2026 bulletin gave a range of 9 to 15 °f for the 16 compared points.
One French degree corresponds to 10 mg/L as calcium carbonate. Values of 27 to 41 °f correspond to 270 to 410 mg/L, i.e. very hard water according to the scale in our article on the water hardness.
Check the analysis date. When selecting and maintaining a salt filter, use the most recent data sheet for your region, based on the conditions of the period during which the device will be operating.
Chlorine and nitrates
In August 2026, the residual chlorine at the points examined was from 0.15 to 0.31 mg/L. Nitrates at the points in the city where they were measured were from 17 to 25 mg/L, below the parametric value of 50 mg/L. In Agios Georgios they were recorded below 1 mg/L.
The data is published on drinking water analyses of the Municipality of Volos. The DEYAMB water quality control laboratory has been accredited by the National Accreditation System since 2008 for chemical and microbiological testing.
Residual chlorine is used for disinfection during distribution. If you are bothered by its taste, filtering at the kitchen tap can reduce it in the water you drink and use for cooking. The need for a nitrate cartridge is considered separately, based on the analysis, not just because the water is hard.

The technology
What does the Olympus basic cartridge do?
What does it hold?
The main cartridge combines ceramic and carbon. According to the product characteristics, it retains chlorine, pesticides, heavy metals, asbestos fibers, hexavalent chromium, arsenic, lead and cadmium. The mineral salts and trace elements pass through the main cartridge.
Salt cartridge
For hardness, add a salt cartridge. You will find it in a double or triple system, depending on the composition you choose, so that along with the basic filtration, you can also cover the deposits that concern you in the kettle.
Greek construction
The manufacturing takes place in Greece. Olympus antimicrobial kitchen filters are designed and manufactured by Center Plus SA. The company's antimicrobial technology was studied for 12 consecutive months by the Microbiology Laboratory of the Medical School of the University of Athens, in collaboration with the Hellenic Copper Development Institute.
Antimicrobial chamber
The chamber of the device is self-disinfecting. The antimicrobial technology neutralizes up to 95% of microbes inside the chamber in two hours, according to the characteristics of Center Plus devices. The basic 0.5 micron cartridge is recommended.

Start with the use you're interested in. For chlorine and taste, choose a single filter. If you also want to reduce salts in your coffee or cooking water, consider a double with a salt cartridge. The triple adds a nitrate cartridge when both parameters need to be addressed.

In the double, you select the second cartridge. For hardness, you request a salt cartridge, while the nitrate cartridge serves a different need.
The upper counter connects to the faucet. You can install it yourself, following the instructions, while the lower counter goes into the cabinet and provides water from a separate faucet that requires a suitable hole in the sink or counter. If there is no hole, it is opened during installation.

The right capacity
How much consumption do you want to cover?;
For an apartment in Volos, the Olympus series is recommended for households of up to 5 people. The basic cartridge is changed up to 12 months or 8,000 liters, whichever comes first. The GIGA series is recommended for 6 people and above, with a limit of 12 months or 14,000 liters.
In the professional environment, supply also matters. In a café, tsipouro bar or accommodation, consider peak hour needs along with the cartridge capacity to choose a device that responds to the way you work.
